The importance of peer-review

The peer-review process is crucial for the integrity and reliability of scientific discovery. And Diamond Open Access journals are no exception. Yet for many journals, peer review remains a challenge on several fronts.

First, there are various peer-review models (single-blind, double-blind, open, community review, etc.), each with its own pros and cons, depending on the journal’s aims and context. We also see that many journals struggle to find enough peer reviewers and to keep them engaged. And finally, even when a review model is chosen and reviewers are found, the practical workflow can still be difficult to organise efficiently.

That’s why during the Openjournals Network and Users’ Day on 3 June, we’ll focus on the key question: how do you set up and sustain a strong peer‑review process for a Diamond Open Access journal?

In a dedicated panel session, editors and experts will share concrete experiences, workflows, reviewer‑finding strategies, and review models, with plenty of room for questions and discussion.

Participation is free, but seats are limited!
